  • THE FIRST PLANTING OF ROBUSTA COFFEE SEEDS IN PACE VILLAGE, SILO DISTRICT, JEMBER REGENCY.

    On Tuesday, December 21, 2021, in Pace Village, Silo District, Jember Regency, an activity was carried out for the Submission of Certification for Local Avocado Varieties from Jember and Planting Coffee Trees.

    This activity is an initiative of the Jember Regency Government, and involves several related parties as an invitation, one of which is the Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Center.

    The Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Center is here as a provider of coffee seed technology. Where the continued robusta coffee seeds are distributed, these are superior seeds which have the advantage that the rootstock is resistant to nematodes.

    The first planting of Robusta Connect Coffee was opened and attended by the Regent of Jember, and the planting was carried out together with the Head of TPHP Jember Regency, Puslitkoka Representatives, and the Silo Sub-district Head, as well as farmers who are members of the Suka Maju Gapoktan group and several farmers around Silo Village.

    The Suka Maju Gapoktan is one of the groups that receive the continued Robusta coffee seed assistance from the Jember Regency government, among other Gapoktans. The total assistance for continued robusta coffee seeds distributed by the government of Jember Regency to several farmer groups in Jember is 170,000 seeds.

    It is hoped that with this activity, the synergy between several related parties to support the progress of Jember Robusta coffee is getting better, to guard the realization of the Jember slogan as the Best Robusta Coffee Center.

  • Puslitkoka, FIT Canada, and Lestari synergize to organize a Coffee Field Gathering with the theme “Climate Smart and Gender Friendly Coffee Planting System”

    Coffee development in South Sulawesi, especially Tana Toraja, Enrekang, and North Toraja is currently being carried out to increase the sustainability of national coffee production. The collaboration between Puslitkoka, Lestari, and FIT Canada resulted in a Coffee Field Gathering entitled “Climate Smart and Gender Friendly Coffee Planting System” on February 9, 2022. This Field Meeting was held in order to disseminate coffee technology innovations to coffee business actors. This activity was attended by Haris Paridi as Assistant for Development Economics representing the Regent of Tana Toraja, Darmawan as Director of the Pangkajene Islands State Politani, Kabid. Plantation Office of Agriculture Tana Toraja Regency, Fitria Yuliasmara, Diany Faila S. H., Novie Pranata E. as Researcher of Puslitkoka, Rahman Dako and Riniaty Liku Bulawan from Persippi, Ophier Sumule as Academician of Hasanuddin University, Coordinator of BPP Gandangbatu Sillanan,
    The Climate Change Adaptation and Environment (KAPABEL) Consortium Team,
    Agricultural Extension Officer of UPT BPSDMP South Sulawesi province, Chairman of the KOPINTA Farmers Cooperative, Chairman of KUB Sarong Samaturu and 50 coffee farmers in the area. The hope of this activity is to strengthen networks among local coffee stakeholders so that they can strengthen the image of Indonesian coffee, especially Toraja.

  • Virtual Introduction Meeting between UC Davis and Coffee and Cocoa Research Institutes/Universities in Indonesia

    Puslitkoka attended the invitation to the Virtual Introduction Meeting Between UC Davis Coffee Center and Coffee Research Institute/Universities in Indonesia facilitated by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, San Francisco. The event was also attended by representatives from IPB University, Gadjah Mada University and UC Davis Coffee Center. The purpose of this activity is to introduce each other to coffee stakeholders in Indonesia and the United States. This activity will be held on August 20, 2021.
    This activity was opened by the Consul General of the Indonesian Consulate General in San Francisco, Simon Soekarno. Followed by an introductory presentation from UC Davis Coffee Center by Bill Ristenpart, an introductory presentation from Puslitkoka by Dr. Agung Wahyu Susilo, an introductory presentation from IPB University (Dept. of Food Science and Technology) by Dian Herawati, and an introductory presentation from Gadjah Mada University (Faculty of Forestry) by M.A. Imron .
    In the introduction, each institution presented an overview of the facilities, research results, and programs in each institution. From this introduction, it is hoped that communication and cooperation will be established between coffee centers.
