  • The Regent of Jember opened the Puslitkoka webinar “Community Economic Recovery Through Downstreaming of Coffee and Cocoa”.

    The Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Institute has successfully held a webinar entitled “Community Economic Recovery Through Downstreaming of Coffee and Cocoa”. This webinar was opened by Ir. H. Hendy Siswanto as regent of Jember. This webinar will take place on July 15, 2021, starting at 09.00 WIB online via the zoom platform and with the theme of coffee and cocoa machines.
    The speakers directly from the experts included Arismaya Parahita, S.P. (Head of Department
    Jember Regency Cooperatives and SMEs), Hendy Firmanto, S.T. MSc. (CCSTP Manager), Edy Suharyanto, S.TP., M.P. (Head of Subsection. Production of Machinery and Downstream Products Puslitkoka). This webinar was moderated by Fakhrusy Zakariyya, SP., MSc. (Researcher Puslitkoka).

    This activity was attended by the Director of PT Riset Perkebunan Nusantara, Heads of Offices throughout Indonesia, both Provinces and Regencies, Deans of the Faculties of MBKM Partners, Banking, MCB Malaysia and SICAP Philippines, NGOs, processors, cafe businessmen, as well as coffee and cocoa farmers in Indonesia.

    This activity aims to introduce technology and programs to contribute to the development of coffee and cocoa nationally, socialize technological innovations for processing coffee and cocoa on a MSME scale as superior innovations and provide an overview of the potential of downstream coffee and cocoa agribusiness.

    It is hoped that in the future, puslitkoka can produce technological innovations and synergize with stakeholders to support the development of Indonesian coffee and cocoa plantations so that through this they can improve the economy of the community and coffee and cocoa farmers throughout Indonesia.

  • Capacity Building for Coffee Farmers through PERSIPPI Activities The Result of Collaboration between Puslitkoka and Lestari

    Training activities through field schools to increase the capacity of farmers continue to be carried out by Puslitkoka and Lestari. In the context of implementing the collaborative program between Puslitkoka and Lestari which is funded by the Government of Canada, FIT and the Inter Council Network continued, Puslitkoka is here for coffee farmers in South Sulawesi. Puslitkoka represented by coffee experts, namely Fitria Yuliasmara, SP., Diany Faila Sophia Hartatri, SP., MSc., and Novie Pranata Erdiansyah, SP. MSi., and Gito Nugraha Budikusuma, S.Tr., carried out further PERSIPPI activities.

    Several PERSIPPI activities carried out by Puslitkoka and Lestari are Development of climate-smart and gender-friendly Arabica coffee demonstration plots, Field school, Gender & Leadership Training for coffee farmers.

    The cooperation activity was carried out on 8 – 11 June 2021 in 3 regencies, namely North Toraja Regency, Tana Toraja Regency, and Enrekang Regency. This activity was attended by 20 coffee farmers assisted by local institutions with material presented by the team from Puslitkoka and also Lestari.

    The PERSIPPI activity is expected to increase the resilience of coffee farming to climate change and overcome labor problems by increasing the involvement of women in both on farm and off farm coffee.
